Halloween Health Survival Tips

Allison Cavanaugh

Hey Everyone!

Our favorite sugar filled holiday is coming up and in acknowledgment of the season we talked about blood sugar control! There are many nutrients to help assist in Blood Sugar regulation ranging and we have a few products that can really help mitigate the damage from excessive sugar consumption.

Glucobalance™: This product really will be your best friend. Typically used for hyperglycemic clients you can also have these on hand for immediate sugar binge relief. Just take (2) before you consume large amounts of sugar to offset the damage. If you are constantly becoming fatigued after meals you may want to consider adding this to your daily regimen.

Cr-zyme™: Chromium helps bind and mobilize sugar so consider taking a few tablets if you go a bit overboard on the candy consumption

Optimal EFAs Caps™: Fat helps store sugar so being well loaded on Omega 3’s and 6’s will also help reduce sugar symptoms.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween!

Not-So-Well-Known Product Series: Porphyra-Zyme™

Parker Sing

Hey everyone!

Today we talked baout the not so well known product Porphyra-Zyme™! This product is definitely a sleeper in our line and deserves more attention! If you are giving someone a detox and suspect heavy metals may be a factor, consider including this in the rotation. Typically I recommend (2) at each dosing of the detox packs if you are using one of our detox kits or (2) 3x each day with Beta-TCP™ or Livotrit™.

Those with metal fillings, tattoos or work in hair salons will need regular heavy metal detoxes.

Enjoy the day and I'll see you next week!

Throwback Thursday: Supplementation For Our Furry Friends

Parker Sing

Supplementation For Our Furry Friends

By Parker Sing, NTP

As an avid pet lover, I couldn’t let another week go by without talking about some of the best products we have available for our four-legged companions. In a perfect world, the food we give our pets should handle all of their health needs; however, in the case of specific conditions or breed, some supplemental intervention may be required.

Arthritis and Joint Issues

"What would be best for joints and ligaments?" is one of the most common questions I get relating to large breed dogs. The answer: glucosamine and chondroitin. Both nutrients have been shown to be beneficial in treating arthritis and joint issues in both man and animals. You would be looking at around (1) Chondrosamine-S each day if your pet is less than 100 pounds; for some of the larger breeds you can go upwards of (3) each day.

Dry, Flaky Coat

Is your pet's coat dry or flaky? Often as our pets age, it becomes more difficult for them to secrete the oils necessary to keep their skin moist and coat healthy. For this, some simple fish oil will go a long way. Give around (1) Optimal EFAs Capsule with your pet’s foods each morning to maintain that glossy coat.

Inflammation

Inflammation can be a real silent nuisance to your pet. My old yellow lab Lync used to sit around the house all day as he got older, no longer interested in chasing my brother and I around the house. We didn’t realize he was too inflamed to do anything and once we started regularly dosing him with KappArest, it was like night and day; he was back to chasing, begging and barking just like a puppy! Just one capful sprinkled over his food twice a day was all he needed.

Accidental Poisoning

Finally, I wanted to talk about Bio-K-Mulsion. One of our vets contacted me to let me know that one of their cats had gotten into some rat poison. The blood thinner was doing its job and she was very worried the cat would bleed out internally. With some quick thinking, every hour, she would administer one drop of the Bio-K-Mulsion, and eventually, the cat was able to stabilize. I heard this story some time ago but still fills me with joy when I think about it.

In general, there hasn’t been much testing on supplements with pets, so consider yourself a researcher, and be very mindful of dosing.

If we are friends on Facebook, you have already seen this, but for those that haven’t, this is me and my favorite person in the world!

Chiropractic Health Month

Parker Sing

Happy Wednesday!

Today we talked about some good products to use as a chiropractor! There are lots of areas to support so here are a few options that we discussed.

Intenzyme Forte™ vs KappArest™: in generally Intenzyme Forte™ is for body inflammation and KappArest™ is more geared toward brain inflammation. If you have someone who experienced a concussion consider giving the KappArest™ over the Intenzyme Forte™.

Bio-CMP™: for those with constant muscle aches or poor muscle control. The product works to balance calcium, magnesium and potassium. Take before working out for best results.

Cytozyme-AD™ or ADHS™: those who cant hold an adjustment between sessions could be dealing with adrenal issues. To regulate first start them on the Cytozyme-AD™  (2) upon rising and (2) at noon. After they complete one bottle switch them to the ADHS™ at the same dose.

Hope this was helpful for you all! Enjoy the day and I'll see you soon!

Flashback Friday! 10 Non-Candy Halloween Alternatives by Rosemary Fotheringham

Rosemary Fotheringham

10 Non-Candy Halloween Alternatives

We all know about the harmful effects of sugar on the body. Halloween can be a hard time for parents who know the harm sugar does but still want to allow their kids to enjoy the holiday. Whether you are taking kids out trick or treating or you are looking for some non-candy treats to hand out, here are 10 non-candy Halloween alternatives!

Use the “Switch Witch” tactic.

Allow the kids to choose a couple candies, and then switch out the rest for a pre-determined toy of their choosing. Ask your kids ahead of time what sort of treats they might like instead of candy. Maybe it’s a new book, or a new game, or a toy? You can help the child pick out a couple candies that are healthier options than the others (without high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors), and then allow them to switch the remainder of the candy for whatever they wanted. You could also opt to switch all the candies for a toy. You could also create a Halloween “store” where the kids can choose an item in exchange for their candies, including healthier candy options. Some kids might be happy getting money in exchange for their candy.

Opt out of trick or treating and do a fun themed dinner and Halloween movie instead.

It’s fun for the kids to have a special night to celebrate, even if it isn’t going trick or treating. You can stay in or go out, depending on what works best for your family.

Host a pumpkin carving and costume party.

By emphasizing the pumpkin carving and costume aspects of it, the kids still get to celebrate the spirit of Halloween without having the sugar hangover afterwards.

Plan a family night baking healthier treats at home together with your kids.

Pinterest is rich in ideas for healthier, grain-free and low-sugar Halloween treats. Get the kids involved with picking out which one they want to make, and then make it together as a family!

Have a Halloween-themed crafts night.

Again, Pinterest is the place to go for ideas! You can carve pumpkins with creative designs, make Halloween masks, paint mini-pumpkins, make candles, or play pin the face on the Jack-o-Lantern.

Hand out toys instead of candy.

If you are staying home and handing out treats for kids, small toys are good options. Things like glow in the dark bracelets, plastic jewelry, rubber spiders or plastic witches’ fingers, bubbles, or stickers are all good options. Note that homemade treats are probably NOT a good option as parents are probably going to throw out anything without factory-sealed wrappers.
Bonus points: put a teal-colored pumpkin outside to let parents of kids with food allergies to know that you have non-candy treats available: check out The Teal Pumpkin Project for more information and for a free printable poster to put in your window to let parents of kids with food allergies know you have non-candy treats.

Put the kids in charge of handing out the toys to trick-or-treaters.

At the end, give them a special toy or treat of their choosing as their “payment”. This might work better if the child doesn’t mind so much about not trick-or-treating, and especially if he or she is older (if not, they will just require supervision).

Visit a nursing home and spend some time celebrating Halloween with the residents.

Bring along some healthy treats that you have baked together as a family, or some healthier options that the kids have picked out. Call ahead to see if they are planning some sort of Halloween event.

Do Halloween-themed activities throughout the month.

Attend a pumpkin patch or other harvest festival so the kids still feel like they get to celebrate Halloween even if they aren’t going trick or treating.

Go to a haunted house or theme park.

This might only be appropriate for children who are old enough and would find this fun, but it can be a good spooky alternative evening to trick or treating! If you live near a theme park, many do Halloween themed events.
Other alternatives are community centers, police or fire stations, and churches, which often do themed parties as alternatives to trick or treating.

Parker Sing

Hey everyone!

We are in flu season again so I suggested a few things to make this season a bit more bearable.

ADP™: Our oregano product, works as an antimicrobial if you are dealing with a cold.

Ultra-VirX™: For those dealing with infections brought on by viruses. This product can help modulate your immune system to make it better tailored to deal with those infections that wont quit.

IAG™: Works as a bio-film disruptor. If you feel a cold coming on or need to get through an infection quicker this can be one of the best tools in your kit.

Bio-Immunozyme Forte™: Multi-Vitamin for flu season, if you are not currently on this product you should consider adding it in to make your body better prepared.

Zn-Zyme™: Zinc is one of the best products for getting over a cold. Helps your body form more white blood cells allowing you to better overcome whatever immune issues you are dealing with.

Hope you are all having an amazing day with little to no colds!!

Bone and Joint Awareness Week!

Parker Sing
Hey!

Today we talked about Bone and Joint health awareness week! We discussed a few options to support those family members in need.

Osteo-B II™: This product works well as a multi-vitamin for those will weak or brittle bones. Has optimal levels of magnesium and calcium to keep them moving.

Bio-K forte Caps™: If you have someone with brittle bones an excess build-up if calcium in the body such as arteries and joints they no longer have a calcium issue but an issue with calcium management. A combination of magnesium as well k2 can help force the calcium back into the bones. Consider giving (2) 3x each day for those with calcium disorganization.

Bio-ADEK Mulsion™: One of our newest products, much like the Bio-D Mulsion Forte, supplies vitamins A, D, E, and k1 and k2. This can work as a management product for those who are dealing with osteoporosis.

For joints we have many products that utilize chondroitin sulfates. My personal favorite is the ChondroSamine Plus™, start them with a loading dose of around (2) 3x each day. After a few days reduce them down to (2) each day. Also be sure to check hydration status as well as possible autoimmunity for chronic joint pain.

See you all on Wednesday!

OTC vs Professional Supplements

Parker Sing

Hey Everyone!

Today we talked about over the counter supplements vs professional supplements! Countless times I’ve been asked “why should I buy this from you when I can get it at Costco right down the road?” Or “supplements don’t work, im not wasting my money on that.” Much of this disconnect comes from the lack of understanding that we are two separate industries with different goals. Over the counter supplements in general strive to be as cheep as possible with a focus on marketing as opposed to research and results that you get with professional supplements. Many over the counter supplements don’t even contain the active ingredients that they claim, or worse additional ingredients that aren’t listen on the label. This can cause potential allergic and sensitivity reactions in our clients. I know I am speaking the choir on this one but I hope you decide the share this video with friends and family to highlight the importance of what you do.  I have included a link to an article that talks about the sheer amount of misrepresentation that exists when it comes to over the counter supplements.
